Attractions and things to do near the Keelman’s Lodge
There are many things to do and see nearby no matter what your interests are.
The north-east of England is rich in historical and natural attractions, including Beamish Museum, George Stephenson’s birthplace (An easy one mile riverside walk away) and Durham Cathedral.
The Brewery and Keelman grounds are also steeped in history. They lie on the site of the Battle of Newburn which preceded the English Civil War.
Sports such as badminton and football are available at the local leisure centre. Mountain biking, walking and horse-riding are possible along the river.
Cycle or walk to Prudhoe castle, the Roman Wall at Heddon or visit one of the many famous sites along Hadrian’s Wall. Explore the flora, fauna and History of the adjacent countryside park.
The international Golf Course at Close House is just along the historic Wylam Waggonway path. There are more Golf Courses at Ryton.
The celebrated Northumbrian Coast and Castles, Alnwick, Kielder Forest Park and Water and the Cheviot hills are all well within reach by car.
When you stay at the Keelman, all these facilities are close at hand. Many activities can be combined with a visit to one of many local attractions.
