We warmly wel­come any­one to Keelman’s Lodge. The fol­low­ing state­ment is a sum­mary of our pro­vi­sion. We have facil­it­ies to cater for dis­abled access. If you have any spe­cif­ic ques­tions please feel free to call us and we will endeav­our to help.

Pre-Arrival

The Keel­man’s Lodge is a pur­pose-built accom­mod­a­tion lodge which stands in its own grounds on the edge of the Tyne River­side Coun­try Park, con­sist­ing of 2 build­ings on the same site. Rooms 1 o 6 are in a single storey build­ing referred to as “The Keelman’s Lodge”, rooms 7 to 14 are in a 2 storey build­ing referred to as “Sal­mon Cot­tage”. Only 5 miles from New­castle and 3 miles from the Metro Centre, it is eas­ily access­ible by both pub­lic and private trans­port and 10 minutes from New­castle Airport.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

There are plenty of park­ing spaces out­side the Lodge on a tar­mac drive­way and dis­abled park­ing bays for three vehicles. The dis­abled park­ing bays are in short prox­im­ity to Keelman’s Lodge. There is ample room for get­ting out of and into a vehicle. There is a dropped kerb for easy access.

Access to Keelman’s Lodge

Keelman’s Lodge is a single storey lodge con­sist­ing of 6 rooms all with en suite facil­it­ies. Each room con­tains 1 double and 1 single bed, with a cot avail­able on request.
Access to Keelman’s Lodge can be gained fol­low­ing a paved walk­way with a slight decline and a dropped kerb to accom­mod­ate wheel­chair users.

Access to Keelman’s Lodge Guest Accommodation

The main door­way into the guest accom­mod­a­tion leads to a small lobby area meas­ur­ing approx 2040m x 1500m
All rooms are ground floor level. Each room has a double and single bed, except Room 1 whcih is adap­ted for wheel­chair users and con­tains 1 double and 2 single beds. All rooms have en-suite facil­it­ies. Stand­ard in all rooms are LCD digit­al col­our TV, tea and cof­fee mak­ing facil­it­ies, a small cof­fee table approx 720mm, with two chairs, approx 470mm, and a dress­ing table approx 600mm, with mirror.

Access to adapted en-suite

Keelman’s Lodge have a spe­cially adap­ted room for wheel­chair users, dis­abled park­ing is in short prox­im­ity to this room.

  • Room dimen­sions are approx­im­ately 3690mm x 4935mm.
  • The door from the lobby to the bed­room is approx 775mm wide.
  • The room con­sists of one double bed approx 620mm high and a single bed approx 620mm.
  • The gap between the wall and the double bed is approx 425mm, between the double bed and single bed is approx 640mm and the single bed to the wall is approx 390mm.
  • The bed­side wall moun­ted read­ing lights have wall moun­ted switches.
  • Single ward­robe.
  • Smoke detect­ors.

Adapted en-suite bathroom

  • The door from the bed­room to the bath­room is approx 800mm wide.
  • The floor area meas­ures approx 1450m x 1660m
  • There are four hand­rails in vari­ous pos­i­tions in the bath­room to aid stability.
  • Stand­ard bath with stand­ard taps and shower, shower cur­tain. Bath height 540mm.
  • Stand­ard toi­let. Toi­let height approx 430mm
  • The mir­ror is above the basin and has a wall moun­ted light with pull cord above it.
  • For extra com­fort there is a bath­room stool, approx 440mm in height.

Double rooms with en-suite bathroom

The doors from the lobby to the rooms are approx 770mm wide.

  • The room con­sists of one double bed approx 620mm high and a single bed approx 620mm high. An addi­tion­al “pull-down” small single bed is also avail­able on request.
  • Read­ing lamps on wall with switches on wall.
  • Single ward­robe and lug­gage rack.

En-suite bathroom

  • The door from the bed­room to the bath­room is approx 700mm wide.
  • Stand­ard bath with stand­ard taps and shower, shower cur­tain. Bath height approx 540mm.
  • Stand­ard toi­let. Toi­let height approx 430mm
  • The mir­ror is above the basin and has a wall moun­ted light with pull cord above it.
  • Tiled floor­ing and walls.

Lighting

All rooms and the lobby are well lit, and pleas­antly decorated.

Meals

Access to din­ing area from Keelman’s Lodge. Meals are taken in the Keel­man Pub conservatory.
Access to the din­ing area is adja­cent to Keelman’s Lodge, via a 1210mm door with a 30mm lip, altern­at­ively use the con­ser­vat­ory entrance, through double glass doors, width of the door is approx­im­ately 1600mm, the step is approx­im­ately 110mm high.

Access to Salmon Cottage

Sal­mon Cot­tage is a two storey lodge offer­ing 8 bed­rooms, all with en-suite facil­it­ies. Each room con­tains 1 king-size bed. A cot is avail­able on request.
Access to Sal­mon Cot­tage can be gained fol­low­ing a paved walk­way with a slight decline, the walk­way meas­ures 1960mm wide.
The width of the entrance door to Sal­mon Cot­tage is 850mm. The dis­tance from the entrance to the stone stair­case meas­ures approx­im­ately 5 metres.
Intern­ally in the centre of the hall­way is a stone stair­case, com­pris­ing of 15 steps. These steps are approx 190mm deep, 260mm wide.

Access to Salmon Cottage Guest Accommodation

On each side of ground floor stair­case there are two rooms, the hall­ways lead­ing to these rooms meas­ure approx­im­ately 890mm wide, there are radi­at­ors each side of the stair­case on the out­side walls.
On each side of the upper ground stair­case there are two rooms, the hall­ways lead­ing to these rooms meas­ure approx­im­ately 975mm wide. There is no lift in this building.
All rooms on the ground and upper ground floors have a king size double bed and en suite facil­it­ies. Stand­ard in all rooms are LCD digit­al col­our TV, tea and cof­fee mak­ing facil­it­ies, a small cof­fee table approx 720mm, with two chairs, approx 470mm, and a dress­ing table approx 600mm, with mirror.

King size double rooms with en-suite bathroom

  • The doors from the land­ing to the bed­room are approx 775mm wide.
  • There are two bed­side tables with bed­side light­ing with pull cords.
  • The beds are king size approx 560mm height.
  • Rooms have either double or single wardrobes.
  • Smoke detect­ors in each room.
  • Double patio doors approx 470mm open­ing inwards to a Juliet Balcony.
  • Self clos­ing fire doors

En-suite bathroom

  • The doors from the bed­room to the bath­room are approx 700mm wide.
  • Stand­ard bath with stand­ard taps and shower, shower cur­tain. Bath height approx 540mm
  • Stand­ard toi­let. Toi­let height approx 403mm
  • Stand­ard wash­bas­in, mir­ror, light with pull cord. Basin height approx 790mm
  • Pull cord for lights.
  • Tiled floor­ing and walls.

Lighting

All rooms and hall­ways are well lit, and pleas­antly decorated.

Meals

Meals are taken in the Keel­man Pub con­ser­vat­ory. Access to din­ing area from Sal­mon Cottage.

No Smoking Policy

Keelman’s Lodge & Sal­mon Cot­tage oper­ates a no smoking policy. There is a smoking bin out­side The Keelman’s Lodge approx 1280mm from the ground, situ­ated near the entrance on the wall. There is also a smoking bin out­side Sal­mon Cottage.
